Rebecca Torres is a Philly-born Puerto Rican artist, mainly focused on encaustic painting and collage, though she’s constantly exploring new mediums, often integrating them into her regular practice.

Her artwork is deeply influenced by the softness and warmth of femininity, juxtaposed with the harshness and trauma inherent in womanhood. While her pieces often feature alluring figures, harmonious colors, and rich textures, they simultaneously invite the viewer to look beyond the surface. Her work explores the complexities of the human experience, focusing on the interplay between pain and resilience, offering a subtle narrative of hope and beauty that arises from hardship.

Rebecca is equally passionate about human rights and environmental issues, which play a vital role in shaping her artistic practice. These concerns influence both her subject matter and her materials. She intentionally incorporates sustainable, second-hand materials into her work, emphasizing the importance of environmental consciousness. This commitment to sustainability reflects her broader goal of creating art that is not only visually engaging but also ethically aligned with her values.

Through her exploration of both personal and universal themes, Rebecca’s work offers an emotional and thought-provoking experience for her audience.

She currently works as a gallery coordinator at a creative reuse center & lives in Brewerytown with her partner & a chaotic blended family of two dogs & two cats.
